Specialized optics can be optimized for short-range detection. This includes distance measurement for dimming and adjustment features, as well as binary yes/no detection up to 1 meter.	Proximity sensing with Whaptics Touchless Touch is practical for turning systems, displays, and other devices on and off. Bringing your hand close to the device causes it to react as expected, such as controlling in-car displays at night or dimming the lights.
